Peggy married Frederick (Ned) Sparks in 1946 and along came Rosemary in 1948 and Anne in 1952.

She started to do some odd teaching jobs as needed on a temporary basis when Anne was a toddler. She was eventually persuaded by the headmistress of a local school in Welling, where they lived, to work full-time and she finally agreed.

Anne spent time happily in the secretary's or head's office or in the back of the class-room. The headmistress became a firm friend.
